Why this exists

The industry changed.

Full-time isn’t a career anymore. It’s a contract with an expiry date nobody told you about.

Layoff rounds wipe out years of progress. Studios shed talent at every level. The 2026 market doesn’t reward loyalty. It rewards leverage.

Whether you’re trying to level up, lead a team that’s slipping through your fingers, or scale something of your own, the same thing is true.

You don’t need more effort. You need to stop being optional.

The math

Hundreds of applicants per posting. Nobody’s reading yours. Applying harder isn’t the answer.

For experienced people in games.

01The results

Clients have landed at Obsidian, Riot Games, Google, Santa Monica, ProbablyMonsters, PerBlue, Wargaming, Sony, and more.

02The problem

The average posting draws more than 250 candidates. Four to six get a formal interview. And it isn’t easing up: across North America there are 127,000 people seeking games roles against about 12,000 hires. That’s 11 game devs for every job. You’re not getting ignored because your resume is bad. You’re getting ignored because the posted market is the crowded one.

Sources: ASGC 2026 industry data, ATS hiring funnel benchmarks.

03The solution

I built a program that moves you off the posted market. We stop feeding the pile and go straight to the people making the hiring decisions, so you aren’t one of eleven any more.

The promise

lead better. build bigger. move faster.

For execs and business owners in games.

You’re at the top. And nobody prepared you for it.

You’re at the top of the org chart, or you built the studio yourself. Either way, there’s no one above you with the answers.

A partnership, not a framework.

1:1 advisory built for people running the show. Not a coaching framework you outgrow, a working partnership that matches the stakes.

Three kinds of operators.

LEADING
Director+ ready for the VP or C-suite move
RUNNING
Founders and studio owners scaling past themselves
PIVOTING
Execs planning the next chapter, board seat, or exit

The receipts.

Clients have moved into VP and C-suite roles, scaled businesses 50%+ in six months, driven 300%+ Steam revenue lifts, and closed $800K+ contracts.

I sought out Adam because I needed a push and accountability. Adam delivered and so much more. Great advice, really puts an effort into finding out what you need and doing his best to deliver. He got me over my hump and our games show it.

A games studio team at work

For games studios

Unstick your team. Grow past the ceiling.

Leadership coaching and team coaching for games studios.

When leaders stall, teams stall.

Managers get promoted without ever being taught to lead. Directors run into scope they’ve never handled. Founders build the studio and then get stuck being the studio. The thought patterns that got them here won’t get them where the org needs them to go.

Three ways we work together.

1:1
Embedded executive coaching for a specific leader. Director, VP, or studio head.
Team
Ongoing leadership coaching for a leadership team or department over weeks or months.
Workshop
Focused one or multi-day intensives on a specific leadership challenge.

What we work on.

Manager to leader transitions. Leading through layoffs and change. Cross-functional communication. Retention and culture. Difficult conversations. Executive presence. Scaling leadership as the studio grows.

Why me.

15 years leading and hiring teams in games and gaming. Certified games industry career and executive coach. Marketer who thinks about leadership as brand and communication. Mental health clinician. My clients have scaled businesses 50%+, moved from managing to leading, and broken through growth ceilings that were really thought pattern ceilings.

Next step: a discovery call. We look at your team and your situation. If it’s a fit, I’ll show you how we’d work together.

The Operator’s Playbook — cover

Three places you might be right now.

Different surface. Same problem underneath: you’re reacting to the board instead of moving it.

01

BETWEEN ROLES

Laid off, exit-planning, or stuck in post-acquisition limbo. The applications go out. Nothing comes back. The pile is a meat grinder — so we stop feeding it and go around it.

02

LEADING

Running a team or a studio and watching it slip through your fingers. You can hit the ship date. Leading people through the rounds is the part nobody trained you for.

03

SCALING

Solo dev or small studio, building the operating model that survives past the next title. The talent is there. The business that sells it isn’t built yet.

What changed for them

They stopped being optional.

Working with Adam has been incredibly productive. He’s like a personal trainer for my career — helping me hone my value proposition, guiding me through the evolving games industry, and pushing me to perform at a higher level.
David R.David R.CMO for ProbablyMonsters, Dead By Daylight & EVE Online
Over six months with Adam, we tackled tough decisions and his guidance gave me the confidence to trust my gut. Our business saw real growth during our time together, including a 50% revenue growth and bringing on an important business advisor.
Howard X.Howard X.Founder & CFO at New Game Advisory
Working with Adam really helped me get back my confidence after an unplanned exit from a AAA studio. He helped me see where my value was and what I really wanted to do. Now I’m doing that at a studio I respect making more money than before!

Adam Hobbs

Who you’re working with

I’m Adam Hobbs.

15 years in games. Two decades as a marketer building brands. A certified coach. A mental health clinician. Three businesses I’ve built and run.

Here’s why it matters for you.

I’ve led and hired teams at the biggest organizations in gaming. I know what gets people hired, promoted, and trusted at the top because I’ve been the one making those calls.

I’ve spent 20 years building brands that get noticed. I bring the same skill to your career. Most people come to me saying “I don’t know how to sell myself.” That’s exactly the work. It’s your story, your positioning, your brand of one.

I’ve also lived it. Got laid off twice. Rebuilt the whole thing from scratch, on my own terms, late in my career. And when all the “experts” told me that was a bad idea.

Now I do this work with solo devs, founders, executives, and job seekers. Clients who’ve gone on to work at Riot, ProbablyMonsters, Obsidian, Google, Cloud9, Santa Monica Studio, plus alumni from Rockstar, EA, Nintendo, Amazon, Ubisoft, Sony, and Epic.

Not just a coach. A partner who’s in it with you until you land.

What this practice is

A games industry career coach who’s been in the chair.

I’m a games industry career coach for serious devs, from mid-career through executive. Coaching that doesn’t sound like it came from a LinkedIn course, because I’ve actually done the work I’m coaching on.

Straight answers.

What exactly is coaching?+

Coaching is a guided learning process that helps you develop practical skills and uncover what’s holding you back. It’s not about quick tips or “advice” like you get on YouTube or TikTok. It’s about identifying and breaking through limiting beliefs, building accountability, and creating lasting change in your games career or business — and using tools and methods that have worked for over 100 game devs in my practice.

How is it different from mentorship?+

Mentors share advice from their own experience. Coaching goes deeper. It challenges you, pushes back, and helps you see what you can’t see from the inside. Mentorship is one-way. Coaching is a working partnership.

How long does a coaching engagement last?+

Most clients work with me for 4 weeks to 6 months, depending on goals. Some continue long-term for accountability and sustained growth.

How much does your coaching cost?+

Programs start at $1,500 and range up to $5,000 depending on needs and goals.

What happens on the Fit Call?+

30 minutes, 1:1. We look at your situation, your goals, and what you’ve tried. I tell you what’s really in the way. If coaching is the right tool, I walk you through how we’d work together and what it costs. If it isn’t, I’ll say so.

Who do you typically work with?+

The majority of my clients are established in games already. Typically mid-career through executive operators in games. Most come from organizations like Xbox, Sony, Riot, Nintendo, EA, and Obsidian. Not in games yet? Start with the Operator’s Playbook and the guides.

Do you offer standalone resume reviews?+

Not at this time. In my experience, when someone feels stuck, it’s rarely just about the resume. It’s a much larger picture that includes strategy, networking, vision, and requires expert feedback.

The first step

Find the real problem. Then fix it.

You keep pushing. The applications go out, the team still stalls, the business stays stuck. Effort isn’t the problem. You’re working on the wrong thing. The Fit Call is a 30-minute diagnostic. I look at your situation, name what’s actually blocking you, and tell you whether we can fix it together. If we can, I’ll walk you through the plan built for your problem.

What happens on the call

01

The real problem, named

Not the symptom. What’s actually holding you back, said out loud by someone who’s sat on the hiring side of it.

02

A straight verdict

Whether coaching is the right tool, and whether I’m the right coach. If not, I’ll say so.

03

A plan built for you

If we’re a fit, you’ll see the engagement, what’s in it, and what it costs. Programs start at $1,500.
